Driving Park HD Virtual Speaker Program
At our 2020 Annual Community Meeting we polled our attendees to determine their level of interest in various virtual activities. Over half of the neighbors who attended the meeting said they were interested in hearing from speakers about a variety of subjects. To respond to this interest we have created the DPHD Virtual Speaker Program.

Denver Water Lead Reduction Program
On Wednesday, February 17th, we hosted the first Zoom session of our Virtual Speaker Program. Our speakers, Jeannine Shaw and Julieta Quiñonez from Denver Water provided an excellent overview of the five elements of Denver Water’s Lead Reduction Program. Below you will find the slide deck from their presentation.
Key Points:
- There are no safe levels of lead
- Lead contamination can come from:
- Faucets installed prior to 2014
- Copper pipe and lead solder (typically used prior to 1987)
- Lead Service Lines (mostly likely in homes built prior to 1951)
- Filter program - what & when to use
- Free filters & pitchers have been provided
- Use before, during and 6 months after the replacement
- Use for drinking, and cooking (eg rice, beans, cooking)
- Questions - Britta filters NFS standard 53 - check the filter
- Boiling water does not eliminate lead
- Lead Service Line replacement - scheduled a year in advance - DPHD is not scheduled in the next year
- Water quality tests are available at no cost from Denver Water
- Water test - request the test on line or call customer care: 303-893-2444
